<div>Smoking is a bit of a strange habit as it is one of those things that we really now that we shouldn't do, but feel that we just can't help it once we get hooked and become addicted. Its hold over us can seem to be one packed with amazing strength and power. Seeming to sap all our willpower and make us a slave to its tempting allure. If you are or have ever been a smoker you will understand just how hard smokers make it to give up! Yes you did read that right - smokers make giving up hard! In actual fact smoking is quite easy to stop once you stop making it difficult on yourself and stop making excuses. After all, most smokers quit every day when they go so sleep or when they are at work - sometimes going hours without a smoke and without any problems - well that is until they near a break time or until they head for the coffee machine just after waking.</p>
<p>So do you smoke, however really want to give up? If so then what excuses are you giving to yourself not to quit? Maybe you are saying things like, 'it's too hard to stop', 'the cravings are too powerful', 'and I have got no willpower to give up'. Well if you are saying these types of things to yourself then you need to challenge them as you are not quite telling yourself the truth. How do I know? Well I used to say things like this when I smoked. When I decided to really give up (instead of all of those half hearted attempts) I found it just as easy as it should be. In fact it was so simple that I really didn't have to do anything. I actually had more time to do stuff as I didn't have to go for a cigarette every 30 minutes. I have loads more cash too that I had saved from not buy a couple of packets of cigarettes each day - that really sweetened the deal for me as well.</p>
<p>When I gave up I just used self hypnosis and it was the most pleasurable and rewarding thing I have done. I now have more money, better health and I don't smell of smoke anymore.</p>
<p>Simply put, hypnosis reprograms the part of your mind that holds your beliefs and habits, so it's a great place to stop smoking. We refer to this part of your mind as your sub-conscious mind.</p>

<div>Do you really want to stop smoking or do you want to help somebody quit smoking? If your answer is YES then this brings us to yet another question “How can you stop smoking?” how can you or anybody else quit this stinking habit? Well, in rare cases it’s easy for some individuals to quit the smoking habit, they will just wake up one day and decide they will never smoke again and they quit smoking just like that.</div>
<div>Out of my own experience I think nobody enjoys smoking, it’s only the beginners who enjoy this habit in it’s early stages until they are addicted to the habit and start fighting it back in efforts of trying to quit the same habit, therefore a majority of so called “smokers” only smoke because they are addicted to smoking and not because they enjoy smoking.</div>

<p>I will tell you a short story of my own experience. I started smoking back in 1995 when I used to work in a discotheque as a Dj. I was drawn to the habit by friends and I got deep into it not realizing what I was getting my self into. At first it was fun it was cool and it felt so good “smoking”, it was relaxing. After a year I decided, well I am tired of smoking and its time to quit so I woke up one morning and said to my self I will never smoke again. Three hours later on that same day while smoking my second cigarette is when I remembered that I had made a decision that morning never to smoke again! I felt terrible it was like I had betrayed my self; this went on for days months and years until I realized how difficult it was for me to stop the habit.</p>
<p>This “war” between me and smoking went on for twelve years; I tried every thing from eating specific kinds of selected foods to all sorts of medicine including herbal medicines in the efforts of trying to get rid of the cigarette cravings but nothing worked until one day in 2006 while searching for the cure to my smoking problem on the internet I came across this amazing Freedom From Smoking Guide. But if you're looking to give this a shot, here is a little something to think about. Will power and stop smoking now...</p>

<h3><strong>Willpower is the Key if You Want to Stop Smoking</strong></h3>

<div>We are simply told "just stop". Stop smoking that is. If only it were that easy right? But the fact of the matter is that both psychological changes and psychological issues play a role in any program to stop smoking. It is not even easy for the most determined of people to flip a switch and stop smoking.</p>
<p>However, the commitment to quit has to be part of any program. On average, only 6% will be successful in quitting during their first attempt. Finding the willpower to make the decision a permanent thing is the key to success.</p>
<p>We all make small choices in any area of life. However, the big choices are rarely a matter of snapping the mental fingers and opting for a course of action. More thought and effort than that is needed. It is those twin helpers that are the link between willpower and achievement.</p>
<p>One of the major factors as to why people smoke is stress. And we all know that stress keeps on coming year after year. Something happens in our lives and we feel stress, therefore reaching for a cigarette to restore calm.</p>
<p>It is possible to interrupt that journey at several points along that moving train of events.</p>
<p>Begin slowly. Search for those times when reaching for a cigarette is just down to habit. The first thing you do in the morning is reach for a cigarette. If this is the case, then put them out of the way and exert willpower so as not to get them.</p>
<p>Delay your after dinner cigarette for a few minutes more to begin with and then longer and longer. It is these small victories that will reduce the quantity of cigarettes that you smoke every day and strengthen your willpower.</p>
<p>As your control over impulses is better gained, your self-confidence will grow. You will feel in control. This will reinforce the feeling of willpower, and you can direct events rather than them directing you.</p>
<p>The next thing to look at is the long term plan. Select a day to stop smoking. Estimate what date you will run out of cigarettes. Remind yourself of the high price of cigarettes, not only in dollars, but also health wise, and prevent yourself from buying anymore.</p>
<p>The first two weeks will be hard, which will make the largest demands on your willpower. The cravings will also be at their strongest during this time. The chemical changes that take place in your body will adjust to lower levels of dopamine, therefore flushing smoke ingredient-created compounds out of your body which will create an urge to resume.</p>
<p>Think of the long term consequences in order to help yourself. Keep photos of diseased lungs around the house and remember the times when you were short of breath when walking up a hill. Assist your willpower in every way possible.</p>
<p>Sticking to the plan for life is what follows next. This is the really hard part. Willpower not only selects an action today, but directs your life towards a better horizon.</p>

<p>to giving up an addiction everyone is different – People respond to different</p>
<p>methods and what is great for you may not work for a friend. However there are</p>
<p>many easy ways to take control and stop your smoking habit.</p>
<p>Fundamentally you must make sure that you are giving up for yourself and</p>
<p>no one else!! Do not do it because some one says you should… It must always be</p>
<p>what you want.</p>
<p>Set a date – A important date to you like a birthday or anniversary, or</p>
<p>simply the first of the month. Use this date as the date you give up smoking for</p>
<p>good.</p>
<p>Write a list for yourself of the reason you want to give up smoking.</p>
<p>Stick this some one you can see it and use it to strength your weakness if you</p>
<p>ever feel you are tempted to start smoking.</p>
<p>Although simply reducing the amount you smoke can work for some people</p>
<p>this is not for everyone, If you feel that this is for you then let some one you</p>
<p>trust look after your cigarettes for you in. In a sense they must ration the</p>
<p>amount you are allowed.</p>
<p>Go Public! Make sure everyone at work, at home and everywhere you</p>
<p>socialize know of your plans to give up! Not only will their support boost your</p>
<p>campaign, you will also be more likely to succeed as you will not want to let</p>
<p>people down!</p>
<p>Lastly work out how much you will save per year.. Use this to motivate</p>
<p>yourself. Think of the new clothes you can buy, or the holiday you can now</p>
<p>afford – You this as your motivation to stay an ex smoker forever!</p>
<p>Planning ahead and making sure you are fully prepared to be a non smoker will</p>
<p>drastically improve your chances of being able to give up. Remember that not</p>
<p>everything that works for you will work for everyone else, so use friends as a</p>
<p>support but not the golden rule! Find the way that works for you and stick to</p>
<p>it, in no time at all you will able to say you are officially a non smoker.</p>
